Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center

The services and educational opportunities offered by the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at Odessa help meet the health care needs of the Permian Basin. One of four regional campuses, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) at Odessa is dedicated to improving the quality of health care, medical education and research in the Permian Basin. The campus, located in downtown Odessa, includes the School of Allied Health Sciences, the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing and the Texas Tech Health Center.

TTUHSC’s School of Allied Health Sciences welcomed its first class to Odessa in the fall of 1994. Offering master’s degree programs in physical therapy, the School of Allied Health Sciences is helping to meet a variety of needs facing individuals of all ages.

TTUHSC School of Medicine provides residency training in three primary care programs, consisting of Family and Community Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Internal Medicine. The TTUHSC School of Medicine also includes the Department of Pediatrics and General Surgery.

The School of Nursing began in the Permian Basin in 1985 and will celebrate its 20th Anniversary in September. The program offers bachelor degree programs that feature articulation agreements with Odessa College, Midland College and Howard College in Big Spring. The master’s program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing was named for the second year in a row as one of America’s Best Graduate Schools by U.S. News and World Report.
